Dr H


Graf Hilgenhurst, MD, Chief Physician and Founder

Dr. Hilgenhurst achieved his board certification in both Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology. He completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. While a practicing anesthesiologist and pain physician, Dr. Hilgenhurst served as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Tufts University. During this time, he trained new physicians in the specialties of anesthesiology and pain medicine. After
15 years of caring for patients in the hospital setting, he opened Precision Pain Care, bringing with him a reputation that is noted among his peers.

Dr. Hilgenhurst completed his undergraduate work and earned his Bachelor of Science
degree in biology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He proceeded to Rush
Medical College in Chicago for his Doctor of Medicine degree and completed his Internship at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's in Chicago, IL. Dr. Hilgenhurst completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, NY; and then proceeded on to the University of Cincinnati where he finished his studies with a Fellowship in Pain Management.

 

His professional career continued in Boston, where he trained other physicians as an
Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, while continuing to practice at New England Medical Center in Boston, MA.

 

Dr. Hilgenhurst is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. He is a
professional member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Spinal Intervention Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

 

He is an avid bicyclist and frequently rides with local bike clubs in and around middle
Tennessee. He is also a member of the BMW Car Club of America, the Porsche Club of
America, and is a driving instructor with both clubs. His latest interest is in volunteering and instructing for Street Survival.org, an organization that teaches good driving technique to teenage drivers.

Clayton D. Carroll, MSM, PA-C, MS

Clayton Carroll is a native of Casper, Wyoming, where he obtained associate degrees in
Biology and Chemistry from Casper College. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Education and Health Sciences from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Clayton continued
his education in Tennessee, where he earned his Master of Science in Athletic Training
from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga and an additional Master's degree in
Medicine from Trevecca Nazarene University, where he specialized in Physician Assistant
studies.


In his role as a Physician Assistant, Clayton has worked in Orthopedics and maintains a
special interest in sports related injuries and rehabilitation. His career path began at the
University Medical Center in Lebanon, TN as an Athletic Trainer. He then worked as a
Physician Assistant with Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance and Nashville Orthopedic
Specialists before joining Precision Pain Care in December of 2009.


His current clinical interests include the treatment of chronic orthopedic pain.
In his spare time, Clayton is behind the lens of a Canon 40D camera, taking pictures of
nature, his twin girls playing soccer, and anything else his discerning eye finds interesting.

 

Amy

Amy Turner, Registered Nurse

Amy has worked in the field of intensive care and pain management for over 20 years. She is a member of the American Society of Pain Management Nurses and the Society of Pain Practice Management. Amy is exceptional at assessing a patient's needs. She works side-by-side with Dr. Hilgenhurst and there isn't much she hasn't seen in the world of medicine. She's happiest talking about the amazing improvements her patients share with her. Talk about job satisfaction. Got a question? Amy can help you. We promise.

Jacquelynn Johnson, Registered Nurse

Jackie Johnson moved from Western Pennsylvania to Jackson, Tennessee to attend college. She earned her Associates Science degree from Jackson State Community College and began her career as a registered nurse at the Cancer Care Center where she assisted in bone marrow biopsies among other duties. Jackie then accepted a position at Jackson Madison County General Hospital where she worked on intra-vascular procedures and began her training in CT, MRI and ultrasound diagnostics. She is certified in advanced life care. In her work at Precision Pain Care, Jackie assists in procedures and monitors patients in recovery. She finds working in a private practice most rewarding because she gets to know the patients. When Jackie is not caring for patients in her work, she enjoys yoga and reading. The last favorite book she read? Eat. Pray. Love., by Elizabeth Gilbert.


Cindy Cothran McAlpin, Registered Nurse

Cindy McAlpin earned her nursing degree from Tennessee State University, supplementing her education with courses in critical care at the University of Tennessee. She has enjoyed a diverse career that spans 25 years, working in hospital settings with patients in cardiac and neurological units as well as numerous specialty practices, including orthopedic and nephrology care. Cindy also spent time caring for the military veterans of the United States at the Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center.

 

Cindy holds numerous certifications in pre- and post-operative care of patients, and believes that patient education is one of the most important functions of her work. In her work at Precision Pain Care, Cindy assists in procedures and monitors patients in recovery. In addition, Cindy ensures that each patient fully understands their recommended treatment or procedure, including what to expect after they leave the office. Outside of her work, Cindy's passions are reading and camping. Best of all, doing both of them at the same time!

LaTara Howard, Medical Receptionist

LaTara, more than likely, is the first face you'll see when you enter Precision Pain Care. And with a smile as big as hers, we think that's a good thing. LaTara is our medical receptionist, and the one who will be working with you on pre-certifying your procedures as well as scheduling your appointments.

Marlin Pitts, Medical Assistant

Marlin works as a medical assistant, and will often be the one to bring you back to the exam room where he'll check your vitals and review your medications with you. Typically quiet and studious, he's been known to crack a smile if you have a good joke for him.

Jill Atnip, Accounts Receivable Manager

Every medical office needs someone who will oversee all of the insurance and billing work, and we are fortunate to have Jill, who has over 15 years of experience in the field. It can be tedious, all of those monthly reports and conversations with insurance companies, yet Jill pulls it all together with great professionalism.
